Are You a Child of God or an Outsider? Pastor Shajet preaches on the story of the Syrophoenician (Canaanite) woman from Matthew 15:22-28. The core message is about the difference between being a true "Child of God" versus being an "Outsider," and how faith is tested when God delays His answers. The Delay of God: The Canaanite woman came to Jesus begging for her demon-possessed daughter to be healed. She cried, prayed, and worshiped, but initially, Jesus answered her not a word. Pastor Shajet explains that when God delays answering our prayers, it is not because He hasn't heard us. God is testing our seriousness and our faith. The Right of the Children: Jesus tells the woman that He was sent only to the "lost sheep of Israel" and that it is not right to take the "children's bread" (healing and deliverance) and toss it to the "dogs" (Gentiles/outsiders). Pastor Shajet emphasizes that healing, deliverance, and blessings are the rightful inheritance of God's children. * Loving the Giver vs. Loving the Gifts: He makes a sharp distinction between those who only seek God for what He can give (healing, money, jobs) and those who love Jesus for who He is. Outsiders come, take the blessing, and leave the church (like the mice that take the cheese and run away). Children stay in the Father's house, take an interest in the Father's business, and remain faithful even when the blessings are delayed. Rejoicing in the Famine (Habakkuk 3:17-18): He references the prophet Habakkuk, who declared that even if the fig trees have no blossoms, the fields yield no food, and there are no sheep in the pen, he would still rejoice in the Lord. This is the mark of a true Child of God. The Power of Persistence: When Jesus indirectly called the woman a "dog," she didn't get offended or angry. Instead, her faith grew, and she replied, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Jesus commended her "great faith" and healed her daughter instantly. Pastor Shajet urges the congregation not to get discouraged or offended when prayers aren't answered immediately, but to persist with great faith.
